10th Memorial for Tsunami Victims
The 10th memorial service for victims of the Indian Ocean Tsunami, sponsored by Nichiren Shu, was held on December 26, 2014 in Phuket, Thailand. A total of 150 people gathered in front of the Kamara Memorial Monument to pray for the lives lost in the gigantic tsunami that occurred on Boxing Day in 2004. Members from the Japan Buddhist Federation, families of the Japanese victims, priests from Minobu and Ikegami, local Japanese corporate representatives and residents attended the service.
